David Berkheimer, BSN, CRNA

David Berkheimer is the senior Founding Principal of RemCare Anesthesia Solutions., LLC, a full-service anesthesia-staffing firm serving healthcare systems, ambulatory surgical centers, and office-based surgery centers throughout the United States and abroad.

David has spent two years on active duty in the United States Army. Serving as a soldier in Echo Company-Ribbon Bridge Battalion, First Infantry Division, Ft. Riley, Kansas. During his service with “The Big Red One”, he performed REFORGER missions to Europe in 1988 and received multiple service honors. He received an Honorable Discharge upon ETS of active enlisted duty in 1989.

David later rejoined the Army after successful completion of the STRAP Program for Nurse Anesthetists during his anesthesia education. After several years of service in the Army Reserves, he was honorably discharged as a First Lieutenant in 2001, completing his second term in service to our country as both an enlisted soldier and a commissioned officer.

David has nearly twenty years of clinical nursing and anesthesia experience. His interest in anesthesia began in 1992 when he graduated from the Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. He later attended the Altoona Hospital School of Nurse Anesthesia.

Mr. Berkheimer has held the Chief CRNA position at a major community health system in Central Pennsylvania for over twelve years. His responsibilities include supervising multiple clinical sites and a staff of over thirty nurse anesthetists and support personnel. He is an active clinician, with significant experience in cardiothoracic, vascular, and neurosurgical anesthesia.

Mr. Berkheimer was instrumental in the development of a successful Cardiac Surgery Program at Bon Secours Holy Family Hospital in Altoona, Pennsylvania in 2002 and he has established several educational programs for nursing staff at two community hospitals in Central Pennsylvania. David has served as a clinical leader, liaison, and adjunct faculty to the University of Pittsburgh Nurse Anesthesia Program since 2004.

David is an active member of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists, International Federation of Nurse Anesthetists, Ophthalmic Anesthesia Society, and the Society of Ambulatory Anesthesia.

He has a deep interest in athletics and has received numerous awards for his running skills throughout his life. In 2010, he successfully ran the Boston Marathon and has competed in numerous marathons throughout Pennsylvania.
